I dislike first person and in fic its an automatic nope for me. I'll give it a try in published works but often I nope out a chapter or two in.

The reason I say this is to say: people like OP of secret 1 and myself aren't going to read your writing anyhow, so you don't even really have to worry about it. Your anxiety is focusing on people who are not even in your audience. So you're probably all good. Keep writing what you enjoy!

This. If I read a book in 1st person and the only thing I dislike is the fact that it IS in first person, when I review it, that's not even going to come up because I am fully aware that it is a me thing and not a flaw with the book itself.
