One the most interesting things to me about fandom is how different we all are from each other. But so many assume everyone is just like them. I don’t talk about my personal life in fandom other than FS where I’m anon, and sometimes it’s really striking how wrong people are about me. I’m much older and have a very different educational and career background, plus a family. I think that’s the main reason I don’t have any strong bonds in fandom anymore.
