as a huge fan of Scum Villain's Self Saving System, gonna give that an anti-rec if the secret maker is trying to avoid "drawn-out bullshit." It's not as bad as Heaven Official's Blessing but SVSSS definitely still relies on miscommunication and the main character being incredibly oblivious to his own feelings and refusing to actually talk to the main love interest about it for 85% of the novel.

(To clarify, this kind of plot is 100% my cup of tea and I love it, but I don't think that's what secret maker was looking for.)

I always think it's weird when someone is completely aware that there are hundreds of these novels out there, with tons of different tropes and genres, and they still go "hurrhurr well the 5 novels I tried aren't my taste/weren't great so NONE of those author's are good at writing". And it's also weirdly specifically tied to only Chinese novels which I always am a bit leery about because I mean... sure, in self published fiction, not all are hits and a lot are definitely misses but that's the case for ALL self-published fiction, it's really not a Chinese thing (not to mention "it's bad writing" is also a bit sketchy when all you can read are the unprofessional, often machine aided FTLs).

People really need to learn to differentiate between personal taste and objective truth. They both very rarely are the same thing.

Yeah, I get it, OP. I dabbled in some Chinese novels, but the rough fan translations didn't make for a great experience. I appreciate fans putting in the effort and all, but they're just not enjoyable to read and when you add in less than stellar writing and some of the tropes... nevermind.
