please don't refer to pregnancy as parasitism, that's just revolting. Thank you.

DA

Well, they're not wrong...

(Anonymous) 2023-12-16 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
It may seem revolting, but biologically, that's what a fetus kinda is.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-16 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
DA

+1 to thus! (Pretty sure even The Onion has run with this idea.)

(Anonymous) 2023-12-16 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Ehh, arguably if non-forced it's a symbiote, not a parasite. Hence forced pregnancy in particular

(Anonymous) 2023-12-16 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought that to be a symbiote, the relationship had to be beneficial to both sides. I don't think there are many upsides to being pregnant that outweigh what the process can do to you.

I suspect some people may try to sell the argument that a fetus can send stem cells to the mother to assist if the mother experiences a health issue. On the other hand, that same action can also exacerbate the moreparasitic traits of pregnancy, so it's a tossup.

People seem to want babies idk

(Anonymous) 2023-12-20 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Stronger nails, glossier hair, sharper sense of smell. Apparently those are things.

Read the comment please:

Forced pregnancy is parasitism

(Anonymous) 2023-12-16 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
I mean...

(Anonymous) 2023-12-16 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Via the placenta, the fetus jacks into your bloodstream and siphons nutrients away from you. It alters your body in irreversible ways, and it will kill you, if that's what it takes in order to get what it needs from you.

It may be revolting, but it's reality. Pregnancy isn't pretty. It can still be joyful, if it's what someone wants. But if someone doesn't want it? Nah, man.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-16 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
DA it looked to me like the comment you were replying to was implying that the person doing the impregnating was the parasite, not the pregnancy itself.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-16 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone who has had two kids, I am 100% okay with using parasitism to describe pregnancy. As a physical state, it fucking suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks, mainly because your body is doing everything to keep your little chestburster happy, and nothing for you
