Or you are lucky and just not in fandoms where this happens a lot. "I haven't seen it so it's not true" has always been and will always be such a dumb argument.

except because this sort of secret has been repeated so many times before, I just thought it would show up somewhere
Like is it in RPF? Gatcha games? fandoms where characters genders are weird and so people run away with a head canon without the need to tag the many many trans fics there? What kind of fandom is this happening in so frequently, I'm dying of curiosity.

There are already plenty of examples ITT, as they always are when one of these discussions happens.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-17 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Well thank you for providing such an extensive list.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-17 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Are you too dumb to read the examples given in the thread or just too lazy?

(Anonymous) 2023-12-17 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
you mean the ones written after I posted the above comment??

(Anonymous) 2023-12-17 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
When I replied to you before, several of the examples were already posted.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-17 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean the whole two? Wow you're right 2 is a big number.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-17 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
There are more but yeah, too stupid, apparently.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-17 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what troll, whatever. I can't see your imaginary many lists of fandoms because I don't live in your alternative reality.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-17 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Fandoms listed in this thread so far:
Teen Wolf, MCU, Legend of Zelda and Trigun.

The argument isn't that it never happens, it's that it isn't common enough to warrant as many complaints as it gets. And "I haven't seen it, and with the amount of fic I read without having seen it, it is most likely that you are exaggerating the frequency it occurs at" is a fair statement.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-17 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Except it's not a fair statement because just because your anecdotal evidence is not the same as someone else's it doesn't make yours more valid. You can believe it's exaggerated all you want, doesn't change other people's experiences.
