(Anonymous) 2023-12-26 12:21 am (UTC)(link)I'm also almost done with Project Hail Mary. I don't know if I'll finish it before the end of the year, but I just got to the revelation after the power outage and MAN. I am SHOOKETH!

Watched (show): Mysterious Lotus Casebook (the show definitely wasn't perfect but I had *so much fun*)

What I read and enjoyed
A House With Good Bones by T. Kingfisher also came out this year. It is a quick read and light horror. I enjoyed it but not as much as her previous work.
I read Between Two Fires and Those Across the River by Christopher Buehlman. Despite the hype of the former, I strongly preferred the latter.
The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix was fine by probably my least favorite of his work.
I read several short horror story collections as well. Song for the Unraveling of the World and A Collapse of Horses by Brian Evenson are fantastic surreal horror collections. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
Tiny Nightmares is full of flash fiction style horror. It was great as a read between waiting for other books.
Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven, Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie, Slewfoot A Tale of Bewitchery by Brom were books that I would recommend as they are quick reads but are the weakest I read this year. Especially the first two.
what I watched and enjoyed
The Fall of the House of Usher and Bungo Stray Dogs were probably my top TV shows of this year though. Really loved both of them.
For movies, my favorites were His House, Missing (2023), Searching (2018), and Ouija Origin of Evil. Underwater is also a fun popcorn movie.
Also, anyone looking for a great horror game with interesting game play needs to play Signalis.

(Anonymous) 2023-12-26 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)Films: My brain can't conjure anything up so uh....guess I haven't been into films very much this year.
Books: Neither books were released this year but I read them in a span of like 3 days and I re-read them a couple more times throughout the year.
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer and The Wild Truth by Carine McCandless
Music: I wasn't really checking new music this year.
Podcasts: You're Wrong About in general. If I had to pick favorite episodes in 2023 I'd be listing them all.
YouTube videos: Too many to list. I found a lot of great new channels/videos this year. A lot of long time favorites are still coming out with quality content.
*Tangent: It's been a weird year on YouTube, all the drama...like...the internet has always been and will always be interesting and weird in ways I can't seem to express to my IRL friends who don't care at all for the niche fandom shit I'm into (IE. my friends would not understand at all why I would commit to watching Quinton Reviews' hours long videos on Nick/Disney comedy shows). Also, I'm going to make that leap to Nebula any day now.*
