I hate it too, for all the same reasons.

The thing is, Sam!Cap will have a super similar role to Steve!Cap in the MCU. They're both moral, upstanding, trustworthy dudes. They'll work closely with whatever power structure there is and punch bad guys and give speeches.

Meanwhile, Bucky!Cap would HAVE to have a secret identity and would just generally have a really different time as Cap. And that would fucking RULE because the MCU could use some goddamn secret identities and stealth. It'd be great seeing a Cap who's not working shield in glove with SHIELD. (yes Steve went AWOL for years but we never got to see it) I actually want to see this story. And I'll never get it in the MCU.

Also Bucky!Cap fucking rules.

But honestly at this point idk if I'll even get to see Sam!Cap in his own movie.

I get REALLY mad about how society views females as inherently stupid and unmoral and how we can be instantly corrupted by anything not perfectly clear or moral.

Trying to pin our patriarchy on the the things women/girls like (that men/boys don't) is deeply infuriating to me. It's so easy to see the feminine thing and go THERE IT IS! That's the problem! Rather than looking at power structures and behaviors. Because that might mean something *other* than the women are to blame for sexism I guess.

This? Yeah this sucks. There should be *no* judgement around type of hygiene product we use. This was some bullshit. Like, imagine if we said all the cool girls use a shampoo bar rather than liquid shampoo. Absolutely insane.

It was dumb, but I had fun, so I don't care that it was dumb. If we get one-off specials of 14 and Donna every now and then, and get to follow 15 along for the main series I'm down for it. Less because of Tennant specifically, and more because I love the Doctor and Donna's dynamic.

So you'd say that in fact, media depictions of young women do affect people? So you were affected by one thing and other people might have been affected by different things?

Yeah, I think it's stupid and it sucks and girls do find a way through, but the misogynistic messages about how girls "should" be are harmful in different ways to different people.

It could have been good but they didn't set-up to it properly which is why it didn't happen, I love Sam but giving him the shield is easier to do without too much writing leading into it, whereas the MCU would have needed to actually treat Bucky like a character and not a whipping-boy for Bucky!Cap to work. It's something that they could set up to now as he was part of FATWS so he has more character work to go from, but before that? Nah, there was nothing there.

I was in my 30's before I even heard about any kind of tampon-is-better chatter, where I am women just use what's easiest and that's that, I'm sure there were pockets of women who weirdly judged each other for what period products we used but I'd never seen it, we mostly just commiserated over how awful the process is. I do feel sorry for anyone who had to deal with it both growing up and as an adult, shaming others for what they feel most comfortable using during a horrible part of the month is just ridiculous.

And I felt judged for preferring tampons over pads, there really is no winning with this kinda shit. (Personally though, the sensory experience of having periods was far worse than any social stuff that went along with it. Maybe this is getting off-topic, but having a hysterectomy was one of the best decisions I've ever made, would recommend.)

Yeah, something uncomfortable to me about bait and switching the first* black Doctor's regeneration into being all about David Tennant, TWICE. Ncuti Gatwa deserved a better introduction than that. It's also completely unnecessary to make up an excuse to bring back David Tennant. Time travel is, in fact, a pretty well-established thing in Doctor Who. So like, what is the fuckin point.

That being said, I'm choosing to remain hopeful about RTD's writing because I AM hyped for Ncuti Gatwa. The Christmas special was reasonably fun and I'm looking forward to next season.

*For the sake of pedantry I do have to mention Jo Martin. She also deserves better, an audio series at the very least.
