So you'd say that in fact, media depictions of young women do affect people? So you were affected by one thing and other people might have been affected by different things?

Yeah, I think it's stupid and it sucks and girls do find a way through, but the misogynistic messages about how girls "should" be are harmful in different ways to different people.

This is a good point. If some aspect of this ended up as weird shit that OP internalized... well, other aspects might be internalized by other young girls, just like OP did.
