I don't want to get too much into it, but there are more reasons for fans to dislike or hate this character (bashing is another story). I was pretty far ahead in the anime (not up to date and I've heard good things about his character development, so I'm glad for that) before taking a break from it and the issue for me concerning Bakugou was that he didn't seem to improve regarding his behavior towards his main victim of 10 years.

He was still acting like he was the real victim, and he kept talking to them (Izuku) and treating them like shit a lot of the time. He was not showing any remorse (if he does, it must be pretty late in the story) and the impact of what he did to Izuku was put under the rug, as if 10 years of bullying, then the way he acted towards him once they were in UA, was no big deal. And, worst of all, he kept getting praised by other characters (including Izuku!), and his relationship with Izuku was treated like a mere rivalry instead of what it truly was.

Heck, he dragged Izuku to fight him, breaking the rules of the school, and Izuku after not wanting to, finally "complied" (which means he's partially guilty of breaking the school rules and should be punished too, yes), Bakugou didn't hold back in beating Izuku because he (Bakugou) needed to use his punching bag to resolve his recent emotional and psychological issue and, in the end, there didn't seem to be any sympathy in story for Izuku, and Bakugou was the one being consoled? And his punishment was virtually the same as Izuku's, despite Bakugou being the clear instigator of the whole thing? It feels so deeply unfair. I also heard that for some his apology was pretty underwhelming (I hope not) and that he was still physically hurting Izuku unprovoked putting in doubt how much he've grown.

I'd have loved his character a lot more if he didn't seem to get a magic pass regarding his bad behavior so often. Make him face direct consequences for his worst shininess, make him realize why what he did was shitty, make him own up to it and give a non-ambiguous apology, and then make him work towards becoming a better man in this respect, without erasing his progress. That's a solid redemption arc to me. But I've yet to see him take the first step. I hope he does get better and I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about it despite what I've seen so far (and some of the things I've read/heard about his future).

Lastly, I honestly (just my feelings) found him strangely bland. I like hot-headed characters, grey characters, rival characters, or enemy-to-friend characters, and I watch a decent amount of animes, but as of now, Bakugou just doesn't do it for me. The best thing he did was make me like Sasuke more by comparison.

However, I've got no beef with fans of his and I'm keeping my mind open to changing my opinion and feelings towards him. I don't think that he's deprived of any quality and I don't think he can't evolve in a better (to me) direction.

If I ranted a bit, it's because I think saying the dislike/hate for his character simply came from his past bullying is a misrepresentation and an oversimplification.

Eh, I'm not caught up, and maybe if I do get caught up I'll agree with you, but I've seen too many criticisms of characters "getting a pass" for bad behavior when that's not actually true at all and tends to just mean any amount of changing and being forgiven is considered "getting a pass" because the fan speaking thinks they shouldn't be forgiven no matter what.

+1000000000 all of this, ty anon
it's so hard to tlak about disliking him nowdays because of all the antis bashing him for the mere fact he was a bully and told Deku KYS, when I actually dislike him a lot because of the weak writing. weak writing is the reason I dropped reading MHA a while ago. while MHA has a very strong setting and characters, the way it just drops all the interesting ideas (AND characters!) it brings up is very frustrating.
