If she's the best person available for the job, that's one thing. But it's possible that while she has talent, there was someone better out there, yet the role still went to her because of who she was friends with. Not that I know this person or how the casting actually played out, I'm just saying two things can be true at the same time.

That's true, but it's a LOT harder to prove nepotism when the person is actually good at the job. It's not as black and white like when it's Kushner being given security clearance after failing to pass the background checks. Also, a lot of times in creative fields two people just like to work together. If Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg were married, would we considering them working together on a lot of projects nepotism?
