It is weird to me that it would be so hard for some to distinguish between the two. But then again, as a woman who has always been very sexual but whose libido has been much lower since her hysterectomy, the distinction is quite clear to me. I'm still a sexual person even if my libido is much lower than it used to be.

I think peer and societal pressure, and (American's at least) utter inability to be sensible about sexuality at *any* age (mostly) has a lot to do with it.
And yes, having a hysterectomy did change a lot of things (though not hormones for me, as I still have the ovaries...).

AYRT

I still have one ovary, so I have something of a sex drive, just much less than I used to. It used to be all the time. Now it is mostly during the times when I would have been having my period.

I never had a huge one to begin with, and it's sort of hit or miss anymore. The hot flashes probably have something to do with it..... :D

I honestly don't miss it. If there is such a thing as a too high libido medically, I had it. To the point it interfered with my life.

I haven't hit hot flashes yet. TBH, part of me is ready for menopause and wishes it would just start already.

That must have been frustrating!
What I did have, I don't miss, and don't ever wish for 'more' or anything.
Hot flashes suck, but that's pretty much all i've had to put up with. Waking up soaking wet with wet pillow and bedclothes from night sweats is NOT fun.

It is a thing.

I don't know you, and I'm not a trained psych, so I can't say for sure whether you met the criteria, but...it's a thing.

I had a hysterectomy and it didn't diminish my sex drive at all.

My BFF had uterus AND ovaries removed and she says both sex drive and lubrication is the same
