There have been a few occasions recently where books I wanted had a special Target-only edition with additional stories and/or chapters. That's fine if you live in America, but if you don't, you're completely out of luck.

YES! I find that so infuriating.
That, and little 'extra' books that are ebooks only. I am not going to buy an ebook when everything else is a hard copy.

At least The Expanse put all the ebooks into a hard copy format when the series was over.

I have a love/hate relationship with special editions. They are beautiful and I want them, but I also want all my books in a series or by an author to match and special editions are generally different sizes than the regular editions and it drives me bonkers!

But yeah, the special chapters bit is just mean.

Totally agreed, and let's add authors who put their bonus chapters on Patreon to the mix as well.

It depends. If it has been deliberately withheld, then yes. But previously unpublished things from authors who have passed? That can be nice. I love getting all the different versions of Tolkien's stories that he wrote along the way. I will happily buy every edition and every new thing published from his stuff.

I’m not familiar with this at all. I’m not sure what kind of author gets popular enough that there’s a market for special editions with added short stories.

Got to say that I do really love people who create and update wikis for this exact reason. There are so many "extras" I never would have known existed if I wasn't browsing the wiki.

Cdramas legit became worse. Male actors all same faced, female leads became stupidier and stupidier. I'm just rewatching my old favorites at this point. Also idk why would you ship FL with other characters. They're all the same and 2nd ML usually doesn't survive.

I know for some snow is not a good thing (Texans, how you holding up?) but I am pretty excited. Only an inch or so but still more than we got all last year! It will probably be gone by morning so I am enjoying the pretty fluffy flakes as they fall in the moment.
