Steve'd be a liability to his devision fr. Like, you and your 20 mates, one of them can't carry his backpack, needs to go to the medbay constantly, causes you to die because he's too slow.
He enlisted for all the selfish reasons. It's like when you know you don't fit the position but you lie to HR to get hired and then can't do the job, but the job is important.

Re IM agreed. It's made worse by the dessert around as it's the direct parallel to the real world invaded countries such as Iraq. The US left a lot of weapons to Taliban so that'd be like entering their camps and blowing up the tech, only Talibans are now a government while IM dealt with illegal groups.

DA

He volunteered to be experimented on. Could have died, could have been disfigured. When it worked, wanted to go to the front to help. Sooooo selfish. *eye roll*

ayrt
It's called doing your job, btw, and not "wanting to help". He signed the contract and he got his assignment.
He enlisted without knowing about Super Serum. Look, I'm not saying it's evil. I'm saying it's selfish. So far the only explanation of why it's a good action is some, wait for iiiit, "intentions". Yeah, that's it.

He enlisted without knowing about Super Serum

He was told he could enlist, even with his medical history. And he should, what? Turn that down? How is it selfish to want to go fight Nazis? Does Steve have a chip on his shoulder and want to prove himself? Sure! He's human. But it's definitely not selfish to want to go oversees and defend people against Nazis.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
He tried to enlist many times, hoping to get some incompetent officer ig. It is selfish to go oversees being week and sick, and be a liability to fellow soldiers.

Huh, I just had a thought that he really didn't want to work as a cook or a radio technician, to really help.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No, he didn't want to pull a little wagon collecting scrap metal. He wanted to be in the army doing direct action. He would have gladly taken it if they made him a cook or a radio technician. That would be helping.

Every man was trying to enlist at that time. Men who didn't try were seen as selfish cowards. Sometimes the men were told to go home and wait for their draft number because SOOOO many men had enlisted they couldn't take them all.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Not where I'm from, they weren't.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Well then he had to learn to cook or study radios.
Yeah, see there was no shortage of men. But Steve wanted to do the job that he was very bad at, because he's selfish.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
No.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Why.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Men literally committed suicide over not being able to enlist. It was considered shameful not to enlist.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-18 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, so all the sick and hungry went to enlist, repeatedly, gotcha. How the enlistment camps managed to operate is a mystery.
Also people commit suicide when rejected for all kinds of reasons. How would suicides secondary to refused enlistment be documented and quantified?

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
So basically you are determined to read everything Steve does in the worst possible way, to make him evil and selfish any way you can and reaching into the stratosphere to do it.

I call troll.

D for effort to you.

F for effort to you.

He wouldn't be. If he had been accepted, he likely would have been support of some sort.
