Huh, that sucks. I knew alpha gal allergies from tick bites were a thing, but I remember hearing that it presented specifically as a red meat allergy and would fade over the course of 8-10 years after the bite. Sorry that wasn't the case for you.

I guess I'll have to be more careful hiking in tick-prone areas if milk and dairy and eggs would be off limits if I ended up with it; I haven't eaten meat in decades, and figured I could contract it and never even notice.

AYRT remission isn’t guaranteed, although I’ve had some periods of my life where symptoms were few and far between. But the most important things for remission are knowing about AGS and shielding yourself from additional tick bites.

I wish it were just red meat, it’s actually all mammals and mammalian byproducts :( There are exceptions but nothing we eat. And there is a seaweed that has a carb that’s nearly identical to what we’re allergic to and it’s common for AGS patients to not be able to consume that seaweed. It’s now required in the US for it to be disclosed as an ingredient under the name carrageenan since it has like 30 different names and used to be hidden a lot under “natural flavors.” It is in a growing number of things including most grocery store chicken, one of the few meats we can tolerate.
