Personally I would like to see more BookTube content, except for the fact that 98% of BookTube creators don't have anything interesting to say and/or have terrible taste and don't talk about books I want to hear about.

The gap between my desire for book videos on YouTube and the book videos that actually exist there is so huge.

I feel this. Recently Youtube has decided to rec me a bunch of "court videos" that are really just men claiming that all women are awful just because this one woman in the case may have denied a man his rights (maybe, I don't know, don't watch). I guess they think because I like watching court videos, these would appeal to me?

You know what they say about why babies cry all the time? Because being slightly hungry or slightly uncomfortable is literally the worst thing they've ever felt in their lives, because they're simply not old enough to have ever felt anything else?

Maturity is the opposite of that. It's having the life experience to realize that what some anon said about your fanfic or what some villain in your TV show did to your blorbo is not, in fact, omigoddddd the worst thing in the world. Lots of adults get frustrated and bored with teens because they seem constantly overdramatic and overinvested in stuff that the adult who has watched 9000 of these shows and run into 900000 rando internet anons has already seen happen or already knows does not matter at all, but to the teen it may literally be the worst or best thing they have ever experienced simply because they have not experienced much and this is their very first fandom ever.

Now imagine that only with literally everything about life in every big age gap ship featuring a teen with a 30+ year old. Is it surprising that most adults would find that awful and unappealing?

If there's truly nothing different about you vs. the teens you run into... welp, at least that's a real confession here for once, intended or not.

Yeah, it's probably this. Either watch history or in their "likes" or "favorites" or whatever that told the algo that they want this content.

Also, keep in mind that you don't have to click on a video for it to count as a play now. Just hovering your cursor over it on the home page for long enough counts, and can put it in your watch history. Same with shorts. If you're watching shorts and you skip past something, even if you only "watched" it for two seconds, it's in your history.

It's stupid and shouldn't work that way, but it does. It could be something OP has no memory of ever watching, because they never watched it at all.

Hmm. I also have held on to my "childish" interests and am able to enjoy them even more as an adult, now that I'm not self conscious like I used to be. I love goofing around. My political views haven't shifted too much. But I never would say I see no difference between myself and teenagers on Tumblr, or my teenage coworkers... There's a world of difference in our emotional maturity and the experience level we have. That isn't to look down on teens at all— I often learn things from younger friends! I really value the insight and different perspective of people younger than me. But I was genuinely less mature when I was in a different part of my life and so are they, no offense intended.
