I was belittled constantly by an older sibling who I’m now no contact with. Fandom was the first time in my life I could connect with people who didn’t put my likes down. I thinks that’s why I’m so sad about how negative fandom is in general now. I need people to squee with!

I had a similar experience except it was my mother who constantly belittled the things I liked. I'm very sad about how negative most of fandom has become as well. I don't mind people venting when something bugs them, but when ninety percent of what I see is negativity and how this or that thing is Problematic for *insert reason here* it does get me down.
