The worst thing to me in my fandoms isn't even (always) perpetrated by young writers, but it's writing men having conversations that sound like therapy sessions. And it just seems like they don't know any men at all. And the characters don't sound like this, either.

I get the desire for emotional clarity in dialogue and all that, but it's so...eugh putting 5,000 words of feelings in the mouth of a taciturn character instead of showing their regard and emotions in other ways.

Lol OT but that reminds me how I went to a fandom OST concert recently and a girl in my row was cosplaying this character who is the broody silent type. She was apparently alone and kept talking and talking at the girl behind her (who was a complete stranger to her). She literally would not shut up for over half an hour. I don't know when she breathed. It was bizarre but funny.
