I really loved this book but the ending did feel a bit "wrap it up" to me. Thematically it makes sense that his character growth leads to accepting surviving but not getting to go home (a home that he might not even belong anymore) is better than not but yeah...it was like that ending was in mind and bending everything quickly to it, logic be damned. Just like my all-nighter essays at university!

On a related note...even though I quite liked the adaption of The Martian (despite it leaving out a lot) I am still apprehensive about this adaption. I'm worried how Rocky looks is going to look cheesy/suck.

The more I re-watch The Martian the more I'm unhappy with it. They took several lines and actions from the rest of the crew to give to Lewis (because reasons??), and that Iron Man rescue was just stupid. I much prefer the book ending.

I also worry about how Rocky is going to look, especially with the way Hollywood likes to underpay and overwork CGI artists leading to really shit effects, but I'm hoping they change the ending for the movie.
