This is one of those “the writing is fine, but the story just isn’t that good” books for me. Personally, when you’re writing a story like this where most of the people reading are going to know the bare bones of the plot, the characterization has got to be extra compelling to make the story worth reading. And in this case, it just isn’t. Patroclus is just your average fanfic softboi with added foot fetish. Achilles is a dumb jock. Everyone else is just background noise. It wasn’t awful and it was an easy read. I’m just not sure who the book was for and I can’t imagine recommending it to anyone.
