There's absolutely no reason not to let you look at the footage, unless they're trying to cover up that the cameras are fake or were never plugged in....

Do I have a legal right to look at the security camera footage? I have my far off suspicion that somebody who works at the apartment was the one who took my package, since the package went missing the same day that the monthly notices were attached to people's doors, but god knows. I'm just trying to prepare myself for being told that I'm not allowed to see the camera footage when I'll go in person to the main office and ask.

It depends on where you live. You should probably contact your local tenant's union. If you don't have that right, you can still access the footage by getting the police to serve a subpoena, though you might need the tenant's union to help you navigate the paperwork.

Thank you for the advice, I feel a significant amount not so helpless anymore about what to try next. Many thanks, anon. :) I had no idea that tenant unions even existed, or how to proceed with the police case that I filed.
