NAYRT, but AYRT said "not minor stuff" and I think your example is pretty minor. It's not impossible, some people did talk about those things in that way back then, it just wasn't as mainstream as it is now (source: I was in college in the early 2000s) and in a few more decades it'll count as "close enough," the way characters talking about little things in the early 1900s that weren't mainstream until the 1920s seems today.

I think it depends on setting. If we're talking characters who would have been educated/in character to talk using the terminology then yes of course it works.

If we're talking characters that wouldn't use that same language cause they wouldn't have heard of it, or wouldn't care to use it then yeah it would bug me.

Like the AVG middle aged 40+ guy outside of college isn't gonna be asking about pronouns and stuff in the early 2000s.

Oh no, not again.
Depending on the characters it's not minor. College group of otaku kids? Believable. Even though they wouldn't ask for pronouns. But they would respect them. Probably. Biker dudes in their 50s? Now we are out of minor territory.
Would it matter in the future? Probably not. But right now it's grating

NAYRT as well but

Uh, that's NOT minor??

Like, I have seen within my lifetime, HUGE shifts in how gender and sexuality are discussed, and I am from a small town. It's incredibly jarring to me when I see characters who are living a pre-internet life talking about queer stuff using modern terminology.
