i gotta say i understand the annoyance, but i think there's no reason to limit to purpose of fanfic like this. stories, even ones that are extremely pointed thematically and clearly trying to be persuasive metacommentary, aren't necessarily intended to be explicative frames for criticism that would win a debate.

sometimes you want to write about the less effective or useful or persuasive or logical criticism in narrative form because that's more interesting. sometimes the point you're making is the one that just really gets to you. i guess i don't see the point of arguing the merit of the criticism itself unless the author is coming out of the narrative framework, because i think there's a place for the audience to enjoy or be satisfied by or to be thoughtful about the worse argument, especially since i think "if the world is true the characters are stupid" is a pretty good entryway into thinking about skill of the world construction itself.

Eh, I mean, I do get it, but the way the author is presenting the ponies as intellectually superior to the wizards for what amounts to "having a better writing staff" really got on my nerves. It's probably possible to do it more gracefully than this author did.

haha, yeah not every author is meant for meta. that sounds hilarious though, do you have a link?

It's mostly an average quality "Harry gets adopted" crossover; the stuff I'm griping about only happens in the Hogwarts-focused chapters, while the chapters focusing on pony interactions with muggles are much more interesting to me.
