Oddly, I experienced this four years ago (yes, right at the start of the pandemic). It was real fun trying to find an electrician to come to our condo and replace both of our alarms. We had no choice but to sleep through the racket, and the electrician was surprised my husband and I got any rest in the midst of all this. He was also stunned that it took 15 years for our smoke alarms to actually die. Now we have new ones that have hardly gone off over the last four years. Thank goodness.
