I always felt like SG-1 did some questionable things as well but they've got nothing on the cast of SGA, I mean...the whole of what they did to Michael alone. Not that it excuses what Michael then did but the fact they did that stuff to Michael AGAIN after it went so well the first time...

(And yet I loved the show all the same!)

I love the fanfics where the 'hoo rah, 'Murica!!!' nonsense is tamped way down and the SG:A characters actually use their brains instead of just running around shooting shite.

Yeah but when SG1 did something dumb or shady, the narrative tone made it clear that they were doing something shady or dumb. And they often got punished for it, and had to face their fuck ups. Atlantis crew just kept fucking up, and even with the Michael stuff, the narrative tone never really made it clear they were the fuckups. There was a distinct tonal difference there.
