Bruce Wayne in theory does a bunch of philanthropic stuff, but unfortunately helping people by means other than beating up bad guys is never a focus of the plot or anything

He can't really exist as a sympathetic character if the story's always asking how many children a Batmobile could feed

Not that he necessarily has to be sympathetic, I'm not personally a fan or anything. But the philanthropy parts are supposedly there, you just never see a story focused on it

It'd be interesting to see that aspect focused on for once

People performatively refusing to acknowledge that genre characters, in fact, exist within genres and not within reality is one of the worst trends of the 2000s/2010s Internet nerd environment and it can't die fast enough.

This. Right along with "if you like/write x in fiction, that means you're x in reality".

I'm not actually doing that, just pointing out that in theory, even within genre, he does supposedly do tons of philanthropy or whatever.

Sorry, I was agreeing with you and amplifying, not saying you were doing that!

Even if it's known or accepted that he does that kind of thing off-screen, it... doesn't make him more relatable to me.
