Livejournal era in the 2000s for so many fandoms (Mostly for CLAMP/xxxHolic, Death Note, Black Butler and Naruto. Also ONTD right up until the TOS change around 2017 made me decide on deleting my account once and for all). Communities were so much better for separating interests and archiving fanworks/activities.

Deviantart around 2016 during my Undertale phase. I had been using DA well before that and frequented the fangroups that kept out the fetish art; but my Undertale era was my most active time on there with different groups that specialized in fan theories, comics and ships like Undyne x Alphys or Grillby x Sans.

And I say this with all the love I have for the benefits and functionality of AO3 - I miss going on FFnet pre-2012. Mostly for fandoms that were at their prime well before AO3 and never really had their works transferred over to AO3 or anywhere else. Plus I liked going to the crossover category to actually see how many crossovers there were instead of the utter mess on AO3, thanks to people who tag every fandom that they have only ever written a single sentence for in the one of MANY collection posts.
