Mass Effect

Do you think it holds up and is worth playing for the first time? The Legendary Edition is on sale on Steam and I was thinking of getting it.

I'm in a gameless void right now and could use something to dive into. I played Dragon Age Inquisition years ago and liked it and I've heard it's basically Dragon Age in Space?(I can't afford full price games. I am very jealous of all my friends that are having fun with BG3.)

As much as the ending disappointed me (and many others), I've heard the Extended Cut fixes a lot of the problems with it, and even if it didn't, the series itself is excellent on the whole (which is what caused such a ruckus in the first place - if the games were mediocre, having a mediocre ending wouldn't have made people bat an eyelash), with ME2 (+all DLCs) being one of my top ten favourite games of all time.

The pack includes all games and all DLCs and is only $10 so I think I'm going to splurge and get it. I keep reading that there are issues, but for a lot of people it's their all time favorite and holds up for an older game.

I like it. Simple and to the point.

I definitely think so. There are some aspects of the graphics and gameplay that have become dated (and the Legendary Edition could only update them so much), but the series overall is nonetheless very solid. I've played through the entire thing four times at this point and just recently started a fifth; my love for it hasn't slaked. The characters and story beats still manage to move me, and when it comes to your choices actually mattering, few series have done better. The fact that choices you make in the first game have serious consequences in the third still blows me away.

Ty! I am definitely a stories/characters over graphics player! Of course if you can have both, yes do that, but I'm willing to put up with dated graphics for the characters and the story.
