Ah, same. I did like anime when I was in high school and I even studied Japanese and lived in Japan for years (started because I liked animanga, but then got really into Kanji and Japanese history & religions), but now I don't like anime that much. I watch maybe one a year and I don't really enjoy them that much. The last anime I truly enjoyed was Devilman Crybaby and that was aired back in 2018?
But I still enjoy reading some manga. I'm currently following two ongoing manga and read little else, usually horror or mystery.

When I try to explain this to people it's... uh... difficult. Since I'm still into Japan and Japanese culture, people expect me to still be into anime while I'm really not. I have no idea what's famous nowadays apart from the biggest shounen jump hits.
OH and I don't like Ghibli's movies. Everyone adore those films, so I always feel like a weirdo.

I'm ambivalent about anime, haven't watched one in years, but people who've known me over the years still think I'm into it and they expect that I like Ghibli movies, but I've never liked them at all! I just stay quiet when they gush about them to me though because they're way more popular than ever.

I was sort of a weeb but right now I just can't get into any of anime. Tbf I just can't get into the most animation, I just don't seem to be target audience anymore. Yeah there are probably shows I could like but am too lazy to check.
Anyway I am really meh about Ghibli too. They are pretty but I just do not care
