what's funny to me as an old fart is...I remember when cable channels had to beg you to call your local provider to start carrying them. I was a hair too young for the actual "I want my MTV" campaign but I remember dozens of other channels - including the OG Weather Channel! - begging for your support. Cable companies competing, slashing prices, offering premiums, bragging about which hot channels they had now. I was there in the before-times.

Cable pricing sucks now because each company has a monoply on cities and regions. I had some Spectrum idiots actually come to my door, dude opens with the worst pitch: "We're in the area because we've lost a lot of subscribers in this neighborhood..." I cussed him out, told him we would never give a dime to Spectrum because their robocalls won't stop (we were getting 5-6 a day from spoofed numbers) and their deals were shit anyway since it would be jacked up after three months regardless. Surprisingly, after that day our robocalls dried up pretty quickly.
