There's no "kind of", I 100% miss cable TV too at this point, OP...

I miss just regular tv. I have having to log in and choose. I want to just channel surf like 10-20 channels and be forced to choose something mindless from what's on.

I also miss things being on channels at certain times so you had to sit and watch. It was something to look forward to on certain dates and times and I miss it.

I don't miss cable tv so much as I HATE binge culture.

I miss what it was. Where I live now, it’s very, very, VERY expensive for limited content and most of it is extremely low quality. I can’t afford $280 a month for hundreds of reality shows that I don’t watch on the 26 of our 200 channels that aren’t music.

I mean...it's still there. Spectrum or whatever monopoly owns your region, you can still pay stupid amounts of money for it. What I miss is affordable cable. Closest I've found is Sling, which no longer has just a handful of janky weird channels, but it's also pricing itself too high. At least it has NHK so I can watch sumo and comforting Japanese cooking shows, but I really tire of paying for 30 Spanish language channels, 20 Indian channels, a dozen Al Jazeeras, and 40 weird niche single-show channels just to get "regular" cable. Without the Weather Channel, no less.

I still have it and was fully prepared to come in here like, "Eh, it's not so great." Then I remembered the last time I had a friend come over and we watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files on Comet TV and how nice that evening was.

OP, have you tried watching Tubi or PlutoTV? They're both television apps but they remind me so much of old cable TV, there are lots of channels to choose from.

I get it. The habit of turning on TV and having it be on in the background. Or being bored and channel surfing - with chances of finding something to watch. I also kind of miss random time sucks, like watching rerun marathons of ANTM or The Office and being all "one more episode" and next thing I know I've reached the season finale and I wasted 4 hours watching a show I've seen dozens of times before.

It feel different from streaming.

That's basically what I assumed (hoped) was gonna happen with bringing David Tennant back too! Something like, the Tenth Doctor refusing to let go leading to ??? Valeyard somehow, the exact mechanics can be worked out by the technobabble department. Not sure it'll happen, but it would be great if there were actually a good narrative justification for that writing choice.

I've never been into sprawling fantasy; it's just not my scene. But I'm totally tempted to watch this because the costuming is so amazing. We have such a dearth of good costuming these days, I am absolutely starved for it.

I cannot express how much I love Timothy Omundson in that role. I just...he's perfect. He is goofy and graceful and beautiful and his songs. *chefs kiss* I was just listening to 'If I Were A Jolly Blacksmith' and laughing.

I fully support your notion OP. I think Pine would make a fine addition to the cast!
