I've traveled a lot of places in the US and tbh this country is hard up for neat places to go and see. you really have to have an event to go to (a festival, holiday, concert/show, convention, etc) to have a reason to go places. If you want to go camping, hiking, etc you pick a place where you can do that. Go to Disneyland. Go to a sports game. I've racked my brain trying to find a city to go to for no reason and walk around/shop/museum but nothing in the US scratches that kind of itch. I'd go camping almost anywhere in the summer before I'd go to, say, Albuquerque just because.

I've been to Albuquerque. And Denver, Atlanta, San Antonio, DC, Chicago, Indianapolis...lots of places. If there wasn't a con or some kind of event, I'd have been bored.
