If children were realistically portrayed in the media, no one would have them.

It also has a lot of international fans. Depending on what the errors are, it could also be a matter of "things work different in the author's country" but they write in a US setting they don't know because of the bigger audience.

Honestly, I hate it when ANYBODY spoils a punchline/reveal right in the title. IMO it takes away from its impact. Yes, I know it was cute/funny/thought-provoking/sick/etc/etc but I wish people would knock it off, at least for the sake of others who haven't seen it yet.

Definitely not for you, because, uh, you didn't get it....

I take it you hated "John Dies At The End" then?

Kids being portrayed as incredibly bratty and even more juvenile than they ought to be is super realistic though. And gets more realistic every year. There are teens walking around right now who are brattier than seven year olds were a decade ago.

Personally I always preferred the Blyton-esque/Hardy Boys type, where the kid was rational but their limited emotional range and life experience meant their saw things through a simplified lens, perhaps missing more complex solutions and explanations, as part of the story. And didn't begrudge adult help. In fact many of the best kids stories are the ones where the kids are just coping until they can get an actual adult to hand the plot off too.

Is this last night's superlate, or tonight's but superearly?

We won't like everything even if it's popular. Like for the other side of the coin I saw a lot of positive press about Oppenheimer but I don't like biopics so no matter how good everyone else thinks it is, and I don't doubt it is good, it's just not for me because the general premise: it being a biopic, does not work for me.

And that's fine. We don't have to like the same things and that's okay. You're not 'missing' something OP it's just not for you.

Superlate

I was ready to agree with you because I was also very underwhelmed by the movie but--yeah, you clearly didn't get the movie.
