Never heard of the actress but now I want to see how she looks with Tenoch Huerta's Namor.

Is he going to be continuing?

No idea, and they'll probably never meet, but the fact that they're now both in the MCU means there's one more avenue for my guilty pleasure ship.

A 48 year old man and a 35 year old woman is not a bad age gap at all by Hollywood's standards! And it's not like the characters' age gap is consistent and always the same in the source material.

I don't necessarily love the Pascal casting just because I don't know if he's right for the way I see the part; Pedro Pascal is very warm and Reed isn't, always. But for Pete's sake, it's not typical Hollywood. Typical Hollywood would have been casting a 23 year old, not a fucking 35 year old.

I would have thought the age gap is too small. They're MEANT to be a weird, unfashionable couple - Reed, brilliant but undiagnosed, Sue, relaxed but older than her years after raising her little brother.

That age gap is well within social norms, and nowhere near Hollywood standard. If she were in her early-mid 20s, that would be normal Hollywood.

I’m shocked they cast someone older 22.

But I agree about the Pedro Pascal fatigue. He’s a good actor but it feels like he’s in everything. Or maybe it’s just that he gets a lot of buzz and I’m just ready to hear about other people.

After how long he's struggled getting jobs in the past, I think it's okay that he's continuing to strike while the iron's hot.

Wasn't Reed literally Sue's teacher?

(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
No. Not in comics canon, at least.

I think the age gap in comics continuity is somewhere around 5 years. They've done a bunch of retconning around the specific ages though.

Still a better age gap than the 90s version, where they literally met when Sue was a child.

I hate the casting because he is known for playing great father figures and Reed shouldn't be that. I like my Reed meaning well but just a little bit out of touch.

I worry that Pedro is close to getting overexposed.
