Their country, their rules. Worldcon agreed to that when they agreed to let a Chinese con host them.

That's not stupid. That's knowingly deceptive. They knew they were doing the wrong thing, otherwise they would have just said when asked instead of insulting people on facebook.

Nobody forced Worldcon to go there, I thought it was a mistake, but it was a freely made one. Once they did, they agreed to play by house rules.

That is certainly not the universal understanding that *everyone* came to when they heard it was going to be hosted in China. People absolutely did not agree to that.

As indicated by the fact Dave McCarty knew that telling everyone about his decisions would piss them off, and consciously chose not to do so.

No matter which country hosts, you play by their rules. To believe otherwise is childish.
