I was never interested in seeing the book adapted and the state of the fandom now is part of the reason why.

I still love the book but it will be years before that fandom is worth engaging with again. A similar thing happened with the Sherlock Holmes fandom with RDJ movies, but it was a flash in the pan. When BBC Sherlock came around, most mods had learned their lesson from the movies and the show wasn’t allowed in the existing comms. I think with Good Omens it will take longer to get back to a fandom that isn’t just about the most recent adaptation; season two stirred everything up all over again.
