Well, now the internet slang is "she's serving cunt" when well-dressed/looking good, so who the hell knows what's okay anymore.

I have already seen people getting annoyed by that phrase. Not sure if it's the word itself that's annoying them or if they're being lowkey phobic given where the phrase originated.

DA - I have no idea about the origins of the phrase but I'll be honest, I hate it. But I come from a place where "cunt" is primarily used by angry sexist people yelling at you because you didn't appreciate their "flirting". Basically, for me, it is a word associated with violence against women. I fucking hate that word, but I do appreciate that it's a word with varied uses and acceptance and try not to get too upset about it.

I can understand your hate of it, because the word itself does have a very complicated/sketchy history and yes, it's use by men in particular has generally been...not good.

When I was growing up I remember feeling like it was the one swear word that was still taboo to say and you had to be VERY careful, but I feel like it's not taken as powerful as that these days. Still, I think it's wrong if anyone makes fun of anyone else who is uncomfortable with it regardless of the fact it doesn't bother me so much. This is why I generally try not to say it very often, especially in company where I'm not sure if breaching the c-barrier would be a good idea or not.

Sounds like another example of how supposedly progressive spaces have just repackaged society's general misogynistic bent.

Are you saying that reclaiming/using “cunt” in a positive sense is misogynistic?

Or did I misunderstand?

That came from the drag community, specifically the black drag community. The internet just thought it was cool and started using it.

(I also love it and it's what I tell myself whenever I need to get dressed up and am feeling a little anxious about it, lololol)

Oh, that explains a lot. I was confused about what it meant because I've seen it so often used for men/male characters, and not usually with gendered pronoun, just like "Wow, serving cunt *thirst emoji*" so I was like, I don't get it, does "serving cunt" mean "serving one's own cunt to others" or "providing a service to other people's cunts"? lol
