Sounds like lots of people really didn't expect the stakes to be THAT low when they heard "low stakes." I haven't read it yet, that's the impression I get: "It had no plot."

I understand it's not for everyone, but I'm reading the nearly-plotless sci-fi Wayfarers series and loving it, so I'm open to reading L&L.

That book is on my stack of books I plan on reading. Sadly it is a very big stack. But I should hopefully get to it eventually.
