None of Jelloapocalypse's "improvements" made it into the dub?

From what I’ve seen of the dub, it’s mostly faithful and it’s pretty funny, but there are some bits where the dialogue was reworked and I didn’t get why (like a bit where Risa calls herself a bad girlfriend for laughing at Otani in the dub, but in the sub she’s encouraging Otani to follow his dreams). Risa never comes off as a psychopath though, just the lovable, messy teenager with big feelings that she’s always been.

I think some of Blaber's stuff did make it through, even if it wasn't big-ticket. Other people have commented on the "bad girlfriend" thing.

Not that the guy was right to mess with the dub (he doesn't deserve his job) but is there anything original about this show? I always thought it sounded silly because all the summaries made it sound like it was sooooo funny and different from every other love story because GASP! the boy was short and the girl was tall!! and that was the main selling point.

Risa and Otani have a lot in common and they geek out over their favorite things together even when they’re fighting. Like their mutual love for a musician is so strong that they’ll both temporarily forget they’re mad at each other and just squee together, which I found really endearing and hilarious. I don’t often see that in other romance anime and that’s what sets it apart for me.

I don't think Lovely Complex's selling point is that it's some super original story you've never seen anything like. It's just good at being what it is. It's entertaining, the characters are fairly likeable, and have good chemistry that makes them believable as a couple.

Honestly, the height thing really doesn't even come into it much. As far as I recall, it's mostly just there to subvert the usual shoujo body types, and set up some insecurities for the characters that explain some of why they are the way they are, as well as why they're single.
