Just because you can do something, does not mean you can do it in the cookiecutter way that the Western Workforce Paradigm wants its participants to do it. That is one of the factors of disability, that, no matter how hard you try, your ability to work is hampered by the rest of society not being able to bend themselves.

Also, if you write original fic but it started as a fanfic, I still think you owe the original content creators royalties.

I want a truce. They can have their prettified characters, but no picking fights with those of us who like more varied designs. (There are people who think Lae’zel is too ugly to tolerate, and she isn’t even that different from the pretty characters.)

I’ve got to wonder how much money this actually pulls. I mean, Fifty Shades sold to people who didn’t even know it was fanfic. If you’re trying to sell your “new story” to folks who were specifically looking for fanfic of the original characters, that seems like a harder sell.
