Did you pay actual money to the authors of these fic to get a followup

Not OP, but if the stuff is on patreon, the people reading or expecting to read it are indeed paying actual money. And authors on there can get away with not delivering and still keep the money they've been given by their patrons. In contrast, as an employee or even a business owner, if people do not get the good and/or services they expect to receive in exchange for their money, they're entitled to a refund.
