I feel this way about most romance books in general. I would love more gay romance books in the style of Nora Roberts or Jayne Anne Krentz or Jennifer Crusie etc.

But yeah, queer dramatic faery stories - I would be all over that.

I love Jennifer Crusie! I would kill for gay/sapphic books in hers style!

That's been me with all media since the late 90s. If it's straight, I have zero interest. I got bored of all the formulaic het plot lines in highschool. Gimme all the gay!

I mean, I'd definitely also be in the target audience for ridiculously dramatic queer fae court stories, that sounds fun as hell. (Soo, anyone have recs?)

Yep, same.

Saw someone recently say fandom doesn't hate het.
Fandom secrets: icky boring het!!!!

(Anonymous) 2024-03-01 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh boo-fucking-hoo, I'm sure all the hundreds of het romance novel writers will cry themselves to sleep because a few people on fandomsecrets would prefer some non-het Fae court romance stories once in a while.
And no, fandom doesn't hate het, quie generally. In fact, there are plenty of fandoms that still are overwhelmingly het and EVEN IF THEY WEREN'T it would be mainly because shocker, the vast, vast majority of all media with romances is het already.
I'm sure you poor oppressed het fan will survive.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-01 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It's almost like the majority of people are straight.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-01 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
You are so SO close to getting the point and you still choose to miss it.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-01 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
Fandom doesn't hate het, they hate the oversaturation of het in media.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-01 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone who likes all variations across the board, fandom can genuinely be very annoying and antagonistic about het... but this isn't an example of this, lmao. It's just someone who prefers non-het wanting more non-het books.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-01 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, TIL I apparently hate het and think it is icky and boring as I prepare to write some sexually charged fic for a pairing I've been obsessed with for close to a year.

Show me on the doll where slash fandom touched you...
