Stop. I don't think I've ever read something so dismissive and unempathetic. Please stop.

NA but "oh no I can't do this thing I have to steal" should apply to poor people stealing necessities from rich corporations, not to stealing from everyone including other poor and disabled people so you can pretend you're an artist.

I was in special ed all through grade school because my handwriting was illegible even to me, so when other kids had reading hour, I wrote lines, like the old school punishment for misbehavior. Only the misbehavior was something I couldn't control because my hand-eye coordination was complete shit.

It was necessary that I learn to write legibly for school, but no one gave a fuck that I also couldn't draw.

I'm not going to steal a million strangers' meticulous work and years of effort because I can't do what they do. Probably lots of them are disabled in ways that mean I can do things they can't; I had special ed classmates who could do amazing photorealistic drawings and not write even a short story. They can continue making fantastic art and I can continue (typing! It means my stupid hands can make legible prose!) fic and original work.

Not everyone can do everything. Especially not if it means stealing the labor and works of millions of total strangers, many of whom are also disabled.

Like, I can sort of hold a tune, but my voice and range both absolutely suck. If it was magically possible for a company to steal a thousand strangers' voices to sell me a better one, it would be an evil thing to do.

"AI" art engines as they currently exist are fully automated plagiarism machines that neither credit nor compensate artists and writers, nevermind that they're also fed the dregs of the internet like CSAM and CSEM and revenge porn and racist screeds. You really okay with all that if it means you can fake a skill you don't have? Wouldn't that eat at you? (If it doesn't, I hope it starts to.)

Good for you?

Why are you assuming everyone else's circumstances are the same as yours?

Stop attacking people who legitimately need every ounce of help they can get. Especially since I know that you know they're not getting much help now because of people with attitudes like yours. For so many disabled it's a struggle to house and feed themselves, and AI, for better or for worse, has given them a way to engage in a world that's full of people eager to leave them behind to rot.

I'm sorry, I don't like to curse or be rude, even online, but go peddle your self-hating, ablest bullshit somewhere else.

AYRT enjoy stealing my work and others then I guess, thief.

I didn't steal anything. It was a bunch of greedy corporate-type, TV and movie studios who stole and monetized it. At least aim your vitriol at the people responsible, not at soft targets who have no power to change how AI is and will be used in the future.

AYRT–okay, but mega-corps aren't going to continue to let anyone, including disabled people, use their fully automated plagiarism engines for free or cheap because selling fake "art" (that everyone who's using it as a get-rich quick scheme is also doing) helps them pay the bills. They're gonna charge $$$ to use them.

And it's about as ethical as making fake "my pet is sick please I need $$$ asap" posts to provide free cover for rich assholes stealing from poor artists as though AI art is opening a highway to the previously inaccessible utopia of artists desperately trying to make a living from human-made art, because a few disabled people are also now able to use the rich corporations' plagiarism engines to steal other peoples' work.

Rich tech bros won't need disabled people, or anyone else, to work the plagiarism engines for them, as evinced by the mass layoffs currently hitting creatives; they'll just fire everyone, including disabled people already working for them, and type, idk, "big titty anime catgirl sucks massive dong" into a plagiarism engine (that's been trained on CSAM and stolen nudes as well as stolen art!) themselves.

AI art isn't going to make any disabled people who couldn't make a living with their art any fortunes or even grocery money unless they have cash invested with Midjourney or something.

And if you just want the satisfaction of having "created" something, and aren't seeking money at all: cool motive, still theft, also you "made" bupkis.
