(Anonymous) 2024-03-01 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)You also don't know me. I am a voluntary support teacher in a community centre (they are not called that in my country but I think they are similar to what they have in North America) for arts and craft programs for mentally ill/disabled folks. (I don't have the certification to follow the physically disabled group ATM)
Art is important for disabled people, but I doubt LLMs is the answer for the vast majority of them. We should aim to include those folks into making art with a soul, with non traditional tools (like not solely hand-pencil or brush-paint, but their whole body) not selling them AIs because they CAN'T make art. Because they can, if they have the right tools for them and put their soul into it.
IDK, it's complicated. Which is why I say my view is possibly ableist. I do have some physical limitations myself, but I can't fully understand someone who is tetraplegic.
I just think it's self limiting using a machine to spew out art. Using them as an aid? Super cool! But selling AI generated images as your own is... idek... a waste of your own potential.
This is why I stressed out I'm a hobbyist artist. I support myself doing a job I absolutely despise. Art is my passion and I'd love everyone to participate in it and see how gratifying it is when you put effort in it.
My vision is absolutely divorced from the professional artists' one, I bet.
