Oh god, I love that show. I watched all three seasons and since I was like, 11, I had no one to fan over it with apart from my mom. But yeah, I get it. She just seemed so happy.

....What is this show? Are there subs? She is very pretty... and very happy looking. Now I'm curious to see why she's so happy.

The show revolves around that girl. If I remember correctly, she was an orphan, stumbled upon something, and the king thought she was his long lost daughter, the real daughter also enters the palace with her, and she falls in love with the heir-apparent. It's rather long and convoluted, but in short, her character was ALWAYS happy.

It's more or less a story about a wacky orphan who turns out to be a royal princess, adjusts badly to princess-y life, befriends a bunch of royalty, and then gets into wacky hijinks. If you like campy romance/drama and wacky "kung-fu" hijinks, this is the drama for you!

Geez man you could at least translate it a little? I mean, come on. Throw us a bone here.

Leaving stuff untranslated, especially when you know the majority of the audience won't understand it, is a dick move and makes you look far too pretentious.

Actually, lots of secrets on f_s have references to quotes or situations that make little sense out of context and, if you'll excuse the leap of logic, may as well be in another language. What's wrong with not wanting to translate something because you feel your language skills are not quite up to it (or whatever the reason)? Until someone makes a fandomsecrets community for every language I don't think it's pretentious to simultaneously want to participate in f_s and not want to explain and/or translate everything one might write about. ごきげんよう!* ♥

Much like you wouldn't understand some secrets about fandoms you know nothing about and therefore, have nothing to do with you, if you don't understand the secret, then OP wasn't directing the secret at you. There's no point in translating knowing you wouldn't care or understand the secret fully translated.

Holy shit, Huan Zhu Ge Ge secret! ♥ That show was, like, a staple of my childhood.

I would totally translate the Chinese bit for everyone else if I could read more than half of it, but I can't. *fail*

Yeah, I get what you mean. The way she talks is pretty untranslatable in English, from what I recall, so I don't blame the OP that much for leaving it in Chinese. :/

I can also potentially make a crappy attempt at translating since I understand these lyrics, but it's honestly hard to capture the wording in a way that makes sense in English. D:

Okay, I totally killed the joie de vivre in this song with my very loose, very bad translation /o\ But that's... uh... sorta the gist of it. Unfortunately I don't have that much experience with translation, so it's hard to put my visceral understanding of the song into different words. @_@

Also, "daring to love" and "liver cancer" sound similar in Mandarin, hence the lol word suggestion?

Oh GOSH. This was definitely a staple in my childhood, too. I haven't even thought of it in ages. The realization that there exist English subs and maybe even a fandom? Blows my mind. <3

Though, to be completely honest, I never dared watch the third season, because I couldn't bear to see the change in actors. >.
