um, I always wander if people are more bisexual than they think. I'm always seeing these secrets "I'm straight BUT..." "I'm gay BUT..." not everything is black and white... not everyone prefers both genders the same, but defining yourself as just 'gay' or 'straight' I think is too narrow. There are exceptions and we're all people, yknow? Whatever.

I think the secret-maker makes it pretty clear she's not actually interested in having sex with men, despite her interest in slash. I'm the same way. Irl, only women have ever interested me. In fandom, I've gotten pretty attached to f/f, f/m and m/m pairings and can enjoy smut of all three because I focus more on the dynamic of the relationship rather than the bodies involved.

Like you said, we're all people, and there's no point in trying to correct how others want to define themselves.

Just because someone doesn't want to have sex with someone doesn't mean they can't be attracted to them in some way. I get lesbians who read slash (or gay guys who read femslash? whatever. or straight people who read either..)--if they're in it for the PLOT, or the relationship, but when they talk about how they enjoy the porn or if it's the ONLY porn they enjoy.. I get suspicious. I had a "straight" friend who only enjoyed lesbian porn. I just think they're in denial. It's not a big deal.

Oh, I see your point, but I am not in denial. I can find men very attractive, and even get turned on my them at rare times, but the minute the pants drop...oh no. I of course see nothing wrong with those who wish to sleep with men, but I want nothing nothing to do with penises, thank you. XD

Uhm, I won't fall off my chair in surprise if most writers of those secrets turn out to be teenagers and adolescents.

I'm secure in my marriage with my wife, writing m/m slash is my hobby. I don't lust after the men I write about, they're my characters. Easy, no?

I do agree in a way: I think sexuality is more like a continuum, rather than just gay-bi-straight-a. And not just a continuum, a continuum in 4D. And I say 4D instead of 3D because time is also a very important aspect to it.

But we kinda need definitions, it's part of how we think. And I think it's okay to say you're a lesbian even if you realize you might change or you might find men attractive. If you identify as a lesbian and find it your own sexuality, why not? But I get also if people don't want to be labelled.

It IS of course important that people realize this, I think. Which unfortunately many don't.
