(And for anyone's information, it's pretty much very likely that the elves would've been subservient during the SPEW thing. When you're raised in that situation for hundreds of years, your first thought isn't freedom. They would rather stay a slave because you would think that's all you amount to and it's a safety net. Better to stay with the devil you know than the devil you don't, you know. It's a harsh life, but it guarantees survival.)
Also I'm tired of people snipping at Ron or Hermione for ending up together. I'm probably one of the few who saw them as a perfect fit: Hermione would ground Ron a bit, and Ron would help loosing her straight-laced attitude. And for Christ's sake, they were close friends before getting all attracted to each other. I'm not saying everyone should ship it or anything, you can ship them with anyone for all I care, but I wish you can do that without the "deserve more" bullshit I've seen on both sides or tearing down on one of them. I know, BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW moar, etc., etc.
These kind of secrets is why I avoid the Potter fandom.
