Honestly I'm sick and tired of hearing people complain about Disco and I don't even like the show.

If you don't like it, just ignore it. It's literally so fucking easy to ignore it. You don't have to care about it. The existence of a Star Trek show that you think has bad vibes does not actually have to make your life worse in every way. Star Trek fandom does not need constant handwringing and agonizing about how much Disco has betrayed the franchise and They're Ruining It All and on and on and on and on.

Just fucking watch Lower Decks. It's great. It's a phenomenal show. You don't need to crap on Disco or talk about how they've abandoned the vision of the franchise to appreciate and love Lower Decks. I mean, fucking Christ.

To be honest, I'm also confused because... is Discovery even the flagship Star Trek show anymore...? Strange New Worlds is the show that has the Enterprise right now. There's also Picard, which isn't as main but is worse than Discovery in literally every way. Has OP only seen Disco and Lower Decks and think we need to compare those two to find the best nuTrek show? Come on, F!S, we need to rag on Picard and SNW much much more! And sing the praises of Prodigy!

You’re overlooking the fact the Discovery set the tone for modern Trek. No one liked it and then they kept coming out with more nuTrek that got everyone’s hopes up and then we just got more shit like Discovery. Lower Decks is the only exception.

And it’s pretty much the opposite of oldTrek because the cartoon version sucked and then later we got TNG which was amazing and opened the door for several more amazing shows.

Disco is terrible and should have been scrapped a long time ago, not spawned a bunch more shows just like it.

I genuinely don't know what you're talking about here.

There's only 3 modern Trek shows besides Disco and LD: Strange New Worlds, Picard and Prodigy. And like... I haven't watched Picard, so I'll grant you that one. But that's one show. Are we really saying Strange New Worlds and Prodigy are following in the footsteps of Disco? Because that just seems completely ridiculous to me. They don't seem anything alike. How on earth are SNW and Prodigy following in the footsteps of Disco?

I just don't think Disco is that significant in terms of setting the tone for modern Trek. I just think it's a show you don't like, and possibly Picard is another show you don't like. And that's fine you don't have to like it but it's not a federal case either.

I’ve never even watched Disco and I can never take this “in the spirit of Star Trek” shit seriously, especially when so many of those people say DS9 is the best series. Someone could have very easily argued that DS9 isn’t about the same stuff Star Trek has always been about when it was on. Even action, warfare and explosions goes back to the original series and the TOS films. I wish people would talk about what they do and don’t like in Star Trek instead of pretending it hasn’t always been evolving and encompassing a range of sub-genres.
