I'm in my early 40s, and I haven't posted to FF.net in a good 20 years. The people I interact with in fandom are my age or older (with some folks in their 30s), and all use AO3; the younger people (20s and below) that I come across think AO3 is "problematic" and share fic through other means. I don't know anyone who still has their own website, particularly since the majority of individually-held fandom sites died when Geocities collapsed (I had an Angelfire site, personally, but I forgot the login to it ages ago, and I'd used a Yahoo email, which all but requires your first born for a password reset). Where are you hanging out that your experience is so different?
