I think it's because your straight quotes are getting changed to "smart" quotes.

Lightning on the Wave's Sacrifices Arc is over 3 million words. The longest fic in that series is 786,000 words long. I reread it frequently.

Another I reread is Sansûkh by determamfidd. 577,000 words.

I remember the Conor fic. The quality is great throughtout! It's not my favorite tropes but I'd really love this fic if it were. Even then, I read a few fics, they're just that good.

I feel like if I looked at other bookmarks some of the older Angel or Buffy fic would be among these lengths, but these are on my ao3 bookmarks. Top three longest:

SA - I haven't read the first two (both Gundam Wing fic) in forever, but I've re-read Stuck on the Puzzle a few times now.

Vejiitasei Ascendant at 400k. I can’t give an exact word count because it’s in a word document on my computer. The old site it’s on doesn’t have word count.

And it absolutely needs every word. Plus some more because it’s a WIP!

Here are my top three based on length. I only have one over 100k and it’s good but I like the other two better. They’re all Logan/Rogue from X-Men movieverse. The rest of my fandoms don’t have any over 25k
