Ehhh....I think a fanfic should go as long as the writer wants.

I have a collab fic going on with a friend and it's at 150,000+ words...and I think it's only at the halfway point.
Yes we've spent years writing it.
No it's not posted anywhere. We used to send each other emails but I've put the fic in a Google doc.
